The Perch — Wood & Dhokra Serving Board

Carved with intention and finished by hand, The Perch is a serving board that balances function with quiet storytelling.

Crafted from solid natural wood, the elongated form is gently hollowed to create a generous surface for serving cheeses, fruits, breads, or small bites. At one end, a hand-cast Dhokra metal bird rests lightly on the edge—an accent shaped using the ancient lost-wax technique, lending both symbolism and presence to the piece.

The bird, a recurring motif across many craft traditions, represents watchfulness, movement, and the rhythm of daily life. Here, it becomes a subtle punctuation mark—ornamental without excess, grounding the object in tradition while keeping the form clean and contemporary.

Each board is made from natural, unfinished wood, allowing the grain, tone, and markings to remain visible. Variations are not flaws, but signatures of the material and the hand that shaped it.
