TriSung Plate · Faceted Triangle Form
Defined by soft angles and an irregular triangular silhouette, the TriSung Plate brings a subtle sense of structure to the table. Neither sharp nor symmetrical, its form feels quietly architectural—designed to frame small plates, desserts, accompaniments, or shared bites with intention.
Handcrafted in the forested Sung Valley of Meghalaya, each plate is shaped by women artisans using homegrown wheels and handmade tools. The region’s distinctive black clay is formed slowly, then burnished with smooth serpentine stone, revealing a surface layered with earthy browns, charcoal tones, and natural variations left by fire and hand.
No molds are used. Each plate carries slight shifts in curve and edge, making every piece singular. This living craft tradition was formally recognized in 2024 with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag—Meghalaya Lyrnai Pottery (No. 1095), affirming its cultural and artisanal significance.
Balancing form and function, the TriSung Plate adds quiet tension and visual rhythm to the Sung Valley Table—an object designed to be noticed, but never loud.
