The Drummer — Bastar Wrought Iron Sculpture
A seated figure with a drum held across his lap — mid-beat, spine upright, quietly keeping time. Hand-forged from wrought iron by artisans in the Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, the figure has the elongated, spare proportions that define Bastar ironwork: no wasted material, no decorative excess, just posture and purpose. Available in two sizes (3.6 in and 4.5 in), designed to stand alone or be paired with The Music Boat and The Gong Players to build out a full Bastar musical troupe.
Bastar wrought iron is one of India's protected craft traditions, registered under the Geographical Indication (GI) system. Every piece is hand-forged using traditional tools and fire — heated, hammered, and shaped one strike at a time, with no molds or machinery. Each figure is forged individually, which means no two are ever identical.
