The River King — Brass Mitten Crab
The River King arrives claws-up and fully armored — eight jointed legs, a stippled shell, every segment and spine cast in remarkable detail. The antique patina pools dark between the legs and burnishes bright along the claws, giving it the look of something dredged from a riverbed.
This is the famous mitten crab of the Yangtze — the autumn delicacy that has marked the season in China for centuries, celebrated when the ninth moon rises and the crabs run rich. The crab itself is an old emblem of protection and persistence: armored, unhurried, and famously unwilling to walk anyone else's straight line.
Light in the hand but fierce on a shelf — a striking object for a desk, a curiosity cabinet, or the food-lover who plans their year around what's in season.
