Ralph Waldo Emerson Inspiration Journal
This journal begins with raw, recycled cotton, transformed into a deeply textured, denim-blue handmade paper that feels grounded and substantial in your grasp. Along the right side, a single natural deckled edge remains, honoring the true nature of the paper-making process. The spine is secured using a traditional Japanese stab binding, carefully threaded to hold 100 lined pages within. Pressed into the cover is a delicate champagne foil letterpress that catches the light, bearing a grassy motif and Ralph Waldo Emerson’s timeless invitation: "Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air."
This piece takes shape entirely in our Portland paper studio. It is here that skilled hands measure, trim, press, and hand-bind every single journal. It is a slow, methodical process, but it ensures that the humility and care of the artisan are woven directly into the object you hold.
